In the past
eight years, the tournament has raised $430,000, built two
Scott Smed family
rooms and truly impacted the lives of thousands of Calgary families.
The Calgary
Health Region is interested in developing a Centre of Excellence related to Pregnancy and
Infant Loss. The dream of a
Scott Smed Centre of
Excellence will include a unit located on a maternity ward complete with
several family rooms, a fully equipped resource centre, on site counseling
services and a team of professionally trained doctors and nurses
knowledgeable in infant loss and bereavement.
This Centre will be the first of its kind in Canada and will provide
Southern Albertans with the very best care possible when experiencing the
loss of a baby. We are very thrilled the Calgary Health Region has
approached us about such a magnificent concept and particularly honoured to
participate in a facility that can make such a meaningful difference through
such a tragic time.
Through partnership with the Calgary Health Trust and Calgary Health
Region we are dedicating the funds from each year's tournament to
achieve this dream. With over $116,000 in the bank we have a great start!
